Movements Of The Moon

The moon orbits the earth in an ellipse that is about 5% more elongated than a circle is, therefor the distance between the earth and its moon varies over a month. WHich is why wh have different moon phases.

The reason why an eclipse occurs is, when one celestal body passes through the shadow of another body. A solar eclipse is when the moon covers the earth from the sun. A lunar eclipse on the other hand is the exact opposite. It occurs when the sun covers the earth from the moon.

There are eight different phases of the moon. First quarter, waxing cresent, new moon, waining cresent, third quarter, waining gibbos, full moon, and waxing gibbus. Thy are formed by the position of the sun and the moon.

Bulges in the earths oceans called tital bulges formed because the moons gravitational pull on earth decreases with distance form the moon, as a result the ocean on the earths near side is pulled toward the moon with the greatest force. Because the earth rotates the tides are rhythmic.

The most interesting part of this is that, even with the moons small size it still has such a big effect on the earths oceans.
